What is directional signage?

Directional signage are a group of signs in multiple locations to help guide a user around a site whether it is a block of apartments or a large college campus directional signage is integral to a site which requires navigation. Signs need to be clear and easy to read, visible from distance and most importantly not confusing.

Signage preparation

Preparation is key to planning the layout for wayfinding & directional signs, if this isn’t planned in depth at the start the outcome of the project will become difficult to understand and confusing for the user. Using building plans and photographs of the locations, a project manager should go through every aspect of each sign and consider the best location and information to go on the sign. Colours can be used for different departments, and floor numbers used to number areas. All these aspects considered will result in a clear easy to understand wayfinding experience.
